Personal Profiles
As many of you know, 2004 was a record year for Advanced Gauging in terms of new gauge sales. Keeping up with the demand has been a good challenge, and help was needed.
In July of this year, we hired our first part-time employee, Dave Caddell, to help build circuit boards, cables and sub-assemblies. Dave was born and raised just outside of Cincinnati in Milford, Ohio. He graduated from Milford High School in 2004 and is currently enrolled at Devry University majoring in Networking and Communications Management.
Dave plans on graduating in 2007 and gaining employment in the Networking Administration field where we are sure he will make an excellent addition to someone’s team.
Dave enjoys playing Frisbee golf with his girlfriend, Sarah. When he’s not with her, you can find him tinkering with his computer or his 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix GT. Of course, don’t ask him for his time in the quarter mile because he won’t tell you!
Next Data Feature
One of the most underutilized features of the AGT400 Thickness Gauge and Reporting System is the Next Data function. Typically, an operator, at the beginning of a coil, will enter in all the coil data prior to running that coil. This works fine, and gets the job done, but the AGT400 has the ability to increase productivity even more. Let’s say the average coil entry takes three minutes to enter. This may not seem like much time at all, but if you could save those three minutes every coil for ten coils a day, that’s a half hour of production that can be put back into the schedule.
The way this works is simple. Let’s assume we just started running a coil (Coil A). We now have time during the coil run where the operator isn’t doing as much as he was during the setup. Instead of waiting to enter the coil data for Coil B until the end of Coil A, the data for Coil B can be entered using the Next Data screen while running the current coil (Coil A). Then when Coil A is done running and you are ready to run Coil B, simply press the Next Data Yes button twice and all the information from Coil B will be entered onto the operator’s Main Screen. Then, while running Coil B, use the Next Data page to enter the coil information for Coil C. This process can be repeated throughout the days, weeks, months, and years yielding a massive amount of time back to your operation!
The Next Data feature also allows for the saving of your most used settings either by Customer or Supplier. So if you run the same jobs routinely, you can save those settings in your Next Data database, allowing for the quick retrieval of the most pertinent information.
